Globe Telecom Inc., Philippines' second-largest telecommunications group aims to increase its broadband subscribers to 1.3 million in 2010. Previously the company had 715,000 subscribers in 2009. The company expects that there would be a rise in the overall broadband subscribers of the country about four million to five million in 2010, which was2.5 million in 2009.
Globe had about 484,000 new broadband subscribers in 2009 out of which 198,000 were added in the fourth quarter alone.
The company would focus on fixed wireless and prepaid, nomadic segments to achieve the growth target.
