Globe aims 1.3 million broadband subscribers in 2010

Globe Telecom Inc., Philippines' second-largest telecommunications group aims to increase its broadband subscribers to 1.3 million in 2010. Previously the company had 715,000 subscribers in 2009. The company expects that there would be a rise in the overall broadband subscribers of the country about four million to five million in 2010, which was2.5 million in 2009.

Globe had about 484,000 new broadband subscribers in 2009 out of which 198,000 were added in the fourth quarter alone.

The company would focus on fixed wireless and prepaid, nomadic segments to achieve the growth target.

Company's main income driver is the mobile phone services and it expects industry revenue growth at a low to mid single-digit level in the same. This would be in line with the broad economy, which is projected to expand between 2.5% and 5.0% this year.

Orange named as the best and most reliable mobile broadband provider

Thanks to the customer service and reliability, broadband service provider Orange has been named the UK’s best mobile broadband provider by customers in an independent survey. The survey was conducted by an independent research firm YouGov, and the mobile operator captured the top spot in a majority of categories.

Orange was also awarded as the best mobile broadband services provider in the similar survey carried out by YouGov last year. As per the recent survey conducted during January, 2,037 of the 4,944 people polled by research firm YouGov said they used mobile broadband and Orange was voted best in nine out of 15 categories in which mobile broadband providers were evaluated.
